Learning from Home - Student Attendance

Attendance

Student Attendance Procedures for Learning at Home.

First and foremost, we would like that thank all the parents and carers for your fantastic support over the last couple of days. Your support means that we have all transitioned back into the online Learning from Home sphere quite successfully.

We have had some questions around marking attendance. To clarify, we are mandated by the NSW Department of Education to have numbers of all staff and students in attendance, both online and onsite, by 10am. This is timeframe compulsory and non-negotiable, therefore we need to know before 9:30am if your child is in attendance.

You can let us know by:

1.       Students logging into Google Classroom and logging their attendance with the teacher.

2.       Parent / Carer can email the class teacher / school office.

3.       If you do not have internet access you can call the school and notify the office.

This MUST be done by 9:30am for your child to be documented as attending.

If we have not received one of these forms of communication your child will be marked as absent and you will receive the automated text message from the school asking for a reason.

If your child is Learning from Home and you can reply to this text message and we will change our records to reflect their attendance.

If we have not heard from your child in 2 days, Mr Bond or the classroom teacher will call to do a wellbeing check on the student. This is the same as if we were doing face-to-face learning. It is an issue of child protection and ensuring student wellbeing.

Please understand that the processes we are working with are mandated by the Department of Education and we are held to strict deadlines.

We would appreciate if you are able to continue to support us by registering your childs attendance early.
