Bell times and attendance
Our school day is structured around a clear timetable. We have set times for learning sessions, activities and breaks. It's important for students to arrive on time each day.
Students start their day with roll call at 9am. If your child is late please bring them to the front office to collect a late note.
Attendance
Daily Absence Procedure
Parents can notify us of student absences by one of the following methods:
- Reply to our absence SMS which is sent out daily at around 9:30am.
- Advise us of the absence via Schoolbytes parent portal page
- Phone and leave an absence message or email us
It is best practice to let us know if your child is going to be absent for more than a couple of days so we can keep their teacher informed. Absences of 3 or more days may require a medical certificate.
It is a legal requirement that all child absences must be explained. Absences not explained within 7 days are marked as unexplained.
Arrivals and departures
Late Arrivals
If you bring your child to school after the 9am bell, you are required to accompany them to the office to explain their absence and obtain them a late note.
Early Departures
If you need to sign your child out early, ensure you arrive with enough time to obtain a late note from the office and then collect your child/ren from their class.
Admin staff cannot bring your child to the office to wait for you unless it is an emergency.
Collection by other adults
We are only able to allow a student to be collected by an adult who is not their parent if they are on your child's emergency contact list - such persons will need to provide proof of identity to the office.
Students cannot be signed out by persons under 18.
Contact the office if you need to send a person not on your contact list.
Extended Leave Procedure
Apply for Extended Leave
If you are planning to take your child out of school for 5 or more school days (e.g. family holiday or overseas travel) you must make an application for Principal Approved Leave using the 'application for approved leave form' via the Schoobytes portal. (print version also available from the office).
You will need to include your itinerary if travelling overseas or interstate. These docments are uploaded to your form before you submit it. When completed, submit the form or bring the print version to the office.
Once approved, you will be issued with a Certificate of Leave which must accompany your child at all times whilst on leave. This certificate must be with the travelling child at all times and may need to be produced if requested by officials such as the police or home-school liaison officers.
It is a legal requirement that such absences must be explained and correctly documented.
Note: Principal approved leave does not supersede any court orders that may be in effect in your family.
